Haven’t we all had old-fashioned jewellery - souvenirs or family heirlooms that we don’t want to give up and yet can’t really wear ?

bijoux dCâlo began with a beautiful old-fashioned bakelite necklace from the ‘40’s given to me by one of my many grandmothers.

This creative journey did not happen by itself, "behind" me are the skills of my mother and my three grandmothers who knew how to make and remake beauty with what they had and my father and my grandfather whose workshops kindled the desire to explore materials - previously only reserved to men.

Together, they left me with the know-how of upcycling and the chutzpah to dare to innovate
